Consumer IoT devices-Privacy and security concerns are driving many customers away from purchasing Internet of Things (IoT) devices, according to a recent report from the Internet Society and Consumers International.

Some 65% of consumers across the US, Canada, Japan, Australia, France, and the UK said they are concerned with the way connected devices collect data. More than half (55%) said they do not trust their connected devices to protect their security, and 53% said they do not trust smart devices to handle their information responsibly, the report found.

Despite these concerns, 69% of respondents said they own connected devices, including smart meters, fitness monitors, and home assistants.
