The growth of the Internet of Things has seen vacancies ‘grow by 14 per cent’ despite predictions the connectivity hype would die.
According to a report by Wired magazine, IoT was going to struggle with security risks, hacking scandals and lack of useful technology in 2017.
But a report by German firm Joblift found vacancies with network specialists increased 14 times as much as the whole job market in the UK, on average.
There has also been a 14 per cent average monthly increase in the number of IoT specialist vacancies in the UK market in the past year (since June 2016).
Despite concerns about data protectio, just two per cent of new roles were in security – although that represented a 21 per cent increase on the previous year, and ‘1.5 times the growth of the IoT industry as a whole’.
