10. Novell NetWare
Way back when, there was a genuine need for operating systems that only ‘did’ networking. Things like mapping network drives and user access worked better with bespoke OSs.
The mistake Novell made with NetWare was relying on a DOS partition when Windows (hello, Windows NT) was becoming the popular choice, so it failed even quicker than it had to.
